The perfect posture
Put your back into it

Your back has a major role to play in stabilising your posture.

Your latissimus dorsi muscles stretch from under your armpits to the middle of your back. It connects your ribs, across to your shoulder blade. The latissimus dorsi works with your chest muscle to adduct your arm, rotate and extend your muscles, all of which is essential for perfect posture and easier movement.

If you’re right-handed, the left latissimus dorsi helps rotation from your left side and balances the force you generate across your chest muscles on both sides of your body. If you’re left-handed, the opposite applies. A great exercise to strengthen your latissimus dorsi is the seated band row. It also strengthens your biceps, core and helps correct your posture.
