Testing your strength

Benchmarking your progress is an integral part of your training program. It is easier to set goals when you know
where you are starting from. There are a couple of simple tests that can help you monitor your improvement.
The tests cover areas including strength, flexibility and muscular endurance.

We will first look at a well-known strength test; the 1-RM Test.
The 1RM Test is often considered as the gold standard for assessing the strength capacity of individuals.
It measures your muscular strength, and the maximal weight you can lift with one repetition.
This test needs to be done with a trainer, especially if you are a beginner.
