Let’s twist again

How many times a day do you bend, lift and twist? Do you struggle or is it easy?

The muscles that are predominantly responsible for a twisting movement are your obliques. They are situated on the side of your torso. Having strong obliques helps you trim down the excess fat around your waist and more importantly, support your back and posture. Strength work around your obliques help you prevent injury and pain of your shoulders and  lower back. A great exercise for this is the Russian twist exercise.

When you bend and twist, your core, shoulders and back simultaneously contract and lengthen as you move (known as your obliques). Strong obliques will help you move more easily.
